All these were achieved in an extremely short lapse of time; a vision turned to life in only two decades. From an urban viewpoint, Bucharest is the creation of the years 1918-1940.
Several statistical data
In 1918, Romania's capital counted 382,853 residents, by 1,305 less than the year before. The war had taken its toll, the Capital recorded its first population decline since 1880. But right the next year, the city's population would start growing - by 10,000 inhabitants a year, with the newcomers adding to the natural growth of the population.
